Our knives are hand forged from one piece of steel,  no welds or moving parts and hand built in a traditional manner using  headsaw steel.  High carbon, molybdenum, chromium and nickel make this headsaw steel a tough tool steel with a high tensile strength  We harden and temper the knife to hold an exceptional edge. They carry a lifetime guarantee.

We custom make a draw knife for peeling and shaping logs. Log home builders, log furniture makers, wood workers and wood carvers who need the best heavy duty draw knife they can get. These knives are designed as a tool for shaping and peeling logs efficiently. They will keep their razor edge through the toughest of knots, we guarantee it.

Our heavy duty draw knives are comfortable and easy on your wrists.  The angle of the handles, curve in the blade and the weight of the tool allow you to use the strength of your legs and your body weight with greater peeling efficiency.

They come with a handmade 11 oz leather sheath built with saddle rivets and by handstitching. Your tool is delivered razor sharp and you may ship it back to us to be re-sharpened.  The re-sharpening is free of charge.

Straight or curved we make a smaller heavy duty knife. Great on smaller diameter logs. These knives are perfect for furniture makers, gate and fence builders.  Edges from 4" or 10 cm with 5" or 12.5 cm long hardwood handles and up.

Scott Richardson is a bladesmith/sculptor who has been making handmade tools since 1991 and Aki Yamamoto is an artisan who's been working in wood and leather since 1996.  Together they are Cariboo Blades and they have developed their own unique style of high quality traditional hand tools and working knives from the finest materials. All local and all recovered.
If you are dissatisfied with the materials or workmanship simply return the knife or tool, we will repair or replace it  without charge. All our knives and tools can be sent to us to be sharpened. The sharpening is on us.
